Data and Research Analyst

The Unrestricted Warfare Analysis Center (UWAC) seeks applicants with military backgrounds and knowledge of irregular warfare data and databases to serve as the Project Lead for data assessment work. Applicants must have experience working with U.S. Military data systems such as DCGS, CIDNE, or others. Intelligence analysts with experience using databases are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will perform the following tasks:

  • Find data sources within the Department of Defense (DOD), other U.S. Government agencies, and private research institutions related to irregular warfare

  • Organize the information as appropriate

  • Work with data managers within DOD to share findings, create and manage platforms on websites, and record best practices on data collection and data management

  • Validate the authenticity and reliability of data as it relates to irregular warfare

  • Design and maintain data security policies and procedures

  • Design, write, and implement reports about the project

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting, or know who to contact to provide those services

  • Train users with varying degrees of knowledge about the information

  • Give presentations at seminars and conferences about IW data sources

The successful candidate also will conduct research and write analysis as tasks require. As a result, prior experience as a researcher, analyst, or intelligence analyst is preferred but not required. Topics relate to irregular warfare in various parts of the world. (Please see the Completed Research page on the UWAC website under the Research & Analysis tab for examples of previous research.) A key part of this work will be analyzing information and helping to incorporate it into evolving models and simulations related to irregular warfare.

The new hire must work well within a team and interact daily on information requirements, coordination of tasks, production priorities, and research methodologies. The UWAC uses a “fusion cell” approach to foster innovation that requires frequent collaboration with team members. At the same time, the data and research analyst will need to work well on his or her own, produce high quality products, and complete all work on time.

Prior military service required, preferably in the U.S. Army or U.S. Marine Corps. Extensive civilian support to the military is acceptable. Bachelor’s degree required. Applicants must possess (or previously possessed) a TOP SECRET security clearance and remain in good standing with the U.S. Government on all matters related to security clearances. Target salary is $75,000; final salary will depend on experience. Telecommuting and working from home is possible for this job; moving to Oklahoma is not required.
